This compound monocular microscope from Voigtländer is identified by serial number 51.851. It has a base in the shape of a horseshoe (horse shoe) made of cast iron in one piece. This includes the vertical column of the apparatus. Likewise, the arm and the platen are also integrated into a single piece. The bilateral macro and micrometric tubes and screws can be seen in gilt brass. It has a composite condenser and double mirror with balance shaft.

This model incorporates for the first time the horseshoe-shaped foot, designed by the German, French national, George Oberhauser (1798-1968). This type of stand was called «continental» as opposed to the «English» foot of three supports used by the English manufacturers.
